Pretty, Pretty Ring.

I thought I'd update our little blog.
Mike's in PEI right now. Why you ask? Please...I'll give you three guesses.

One...no, he's not eating lobster. He says unless he cooks it himself, it costs just as much as eating one here.
Two...no, he's not there for work. Although, he did go check out some bridge that his boss told him to see. Pfff....engineers!
Three....wakeboarding you say??? DING DING DING!!!
What else? For those of you that know Mike, wakeboarding is pretty much the one and only reason you NEVER see him!
In fact, this is very indicative of how our relationship has been for about four or five of the six years we've been together!
What a guy...he proposes and then, BOOM! on a plane to the coast.

One perk to having him away this week is that he lent me his pretty, pretty laptop! And, as you can see, I have taken some pictures of me with my pretty, pretty ring. I'm afraid this isn't the best picture ever, but it gives you a good idea of what it looks like.
Mike's dad took a few pictures of the ring on a really nice camera he has. I'll try getting those shots posted too.

It is entirely too late and I need to be up early tomorrow looking fresh and fantastic for a friend's wedding. This week has taught me that laptops are dangerous for your health. They suck you in to late night viewings of Gilmore Girls and obsessive checking of email...beware the laptop my friends! Beware.

AHHHHHHHH!!!!

So, I'm engaged. I can't stop looking at my beautiful ring. I know this sounds cliche but, I feel like I'm in a dream. This moment feels very surreal to me. I am a little manic. One minute I'm laughing, the next I'm crying...I almost can't stand it.

I know you'll probably all want to know what he said and how he said it. To be honest, I can't remember. It's all pretty hazy, but I know that he looked so cute and so nervous. The spot he chose was absolutely beautiful. It was a small little nook outside St. Andrew's church. After I said yes, the staff from Roy Thomson Hall across the street yelled out "What'd she say?" Then we got a big round of applause! That was really nice.

So, I'm spending way too much time typing and not nearly enough time with my fiance right now! AHH! I have a fiance!!

Goodnight to everyone! I will see you all soon!

Tonight's the night

Well, there have been quite a few setbacks now, but everything has been worked out. I'm pretty sure that Miranda suspects that I am going to propose tonight, although she's playing it really cool. There was a little misunderstanding that she picked up on, so I've lost the element of surprise. I'm actually fairly upset about that, but I'm sure it will still be a great night! She still has no idea what is planned and I think she will love it! Just about 6 hours left of my bachelourhood...

I'm very excited!

I'm starting this blog so that you can all keep up with what Miranda and I are up too. If you had heard that we were engaged, it's not true, although I've actually purchased an engagement ring... I'm currently waiting for it to arrive! By the time you read this, I will have already proposed and hopefully she will have said yes... These are my thoughts for now though:

I've been pretty excited about this for a while now, once you decide to propose, it's hard to wait around for the right day! I've been trying to convince Miranda that I'm really busy with work and school so that I can both get extra time to plan this and so that she won't expect it. My hope is to propose on June 16th, a Saturday. That day I am going to a friends stag party, which begins with a Blue Jays game in the afternoon. After that, Miranda and I are going out for dinner to celebrate my last exam in University. I am then meeting back up with the stag party for nighttime festivities... or so Miranda believes.

We are going to walk from the restaurant (which will be downtown Toronto) towards the stag party, however, we have a little stop to make! I walked around downtown a few weeks ago trying to find the perfect place to propose, and I think I found a pretty good one. I wanted a place that was just off of the street, so that we could step into it without going out of the way. I wanted it to be rather unpopular, but beautiful, so that we could forever remember the spot as our spot. I plan to go down to Toronto tonight so that I can take a few photos, so I will post them when I get them. I bought about 10 candles and candle stands and recruited 3 helpers to set them up on that night. After dinner we will walk by this spot, step in, and the candles will be waiting! (so will the roses.) I think she will understand what's happening by then... but if you don't get it yet, that's when I get down on one knee!

I have kept these plans very secretive, only telling a total of 6 people (my 3 helpers, Miranda's Parents (asked for their blessing!), and my brother Ryan (checking to see if it was too close to his wedding) I think my family might be a little upset at the lack of knowledge, but I wanted it to be a surprise! Writing down these thoughts is actually helping me a lot, as I am going a little crazy not being able to talk to many people about this.

This has now gotten to be a very long post so I will conclude now,

I hope you will continue to enjoy this blog.

Where we've been!
